one of the big joys of being a children's librarian is sharing classic books with kids for their first time.

some examples might be ...

... last week in bedtime stories when i xenical forum 'where the wild things are' by sendak. it was quite apparent xenical forum some of the kids there hadn't read it before...

... xenical forum time in the city when i read 'blueberries for sal' by mccloskey. one of the kids said to me 'what do you mean they're picking blueberries? blueberries come from little boxes at the grocery store. what does it mean to pick them?' ah, city kids...

... the gleam in eyes at the first xenical forum stories where i read 'goodnight moon' by brown in big xenical forum format (literally 2 feet x 3 feet in size.) they knew the story, but had never imagined it Xenical forum - that big ...

and the same goes for giving a novel over to a child for the first time. like 'charlie and the chocolate factory' or 'superfudge'.

and then there is sharing my favourites from childhood. like today.

today we did an apple program. i know, it's not september. but Xenical forum : the apple is new york state's official fruit, xenical forum the summer reading theme is 'new york - read white and blue' so there you go.

so today we did an apple story and craft. purchase xenical online in which i read the book 'ten apples up on top' by theo lesieg (here's a trivia fact Xenical forum - for you. Theo LeSieg is really Dr. Seuss. check it out ... LeSieg is actually geisel spelled backwards. Geisel. Dr. xenical forum real last name. who knew?)

this was my easy reader when i was a kid. 'harry the dirty dog' was my picture xenical forum 'the great brain' by fitzgerald was my xenical forum and 'heather's feathers' by weiss was my first chapter book (well, that and 'freckle juice' by blume.) 'heather's feathers' is about a bird who is depressed that all the kids in class are losing their teeth and she doesn't have teeth ... until her mom tells her that she does something better. she molts. i can still see (in my mind, of course) the picture of her running around the classroom shaking her Info xenical - birdy behind to make the feathers fly - and make all the other kids jealous of her.

but i digress.

so when the kids all arrived, i took polaroid pictures of xenical forum (which the kids also loved ... they are magic pictures!), then we read the story, then sang APPLE to the tune of BINGO (i made really cute felt apples and letters and pulled the letters down as we sang ... i needed to so i could remember where we were in the song *hee hee*)
then the kids were off to the craft tables with their pictures. and there they found piles Xenical forum : of small apple cutouts. to stack on top of their heads ... well, their picture heads, anyway.

they all had fun! one had 25 apples up on top.

so that was a pure joy. to share my childhood favourite with these kids.

ten apples up on top. we will not let them drop.
