there is an interesting culture among the commuters at grand central. it revolves around the morning newspapers.
grand ativan drug places these huge rolling metal cubes at the entrance/exits of the tracks (usually right next to the garbage cans) for people to toss their 'consumed' (ie. read) ativan drug into.
some mornings the newspaper bins aren't there. it's interesting to see, on those days, how creatively commuters can stack their papers up and around a garbage bin. most mornings they are there and it's fun to see how well people can toss their paper into this thing and from how far away. it could be a sport (did you watch the olympics this summer? it could be a sport - Ativan drug : everything else is.)
used to be that they were just metal baskets ativan drug large spacings between the bars. used to be that people would then reach in, grab a paper and pull it ativan drug i even remember seeing people climb up on the bottom edge of this thing and stretch and reach down inside to grab a paper. interesting to watch when that someone is in a suit.

the top side is a curious creation ... it's no longer a box without a lid, but now it has the equalivent of a metal square frame with sides about 1 foot deep. this solves the 'problem' of people perching ativan drug edges and bending down in the top. this square not only makes the entire thing another foot or two higher, but also acts as an upside down funnel, if you will, in that it makes the actual opening Ativan drug - smaller than the size of the box. it does, however, create a flat surface on the top of the container.

ok, so why am i babbling on about this? well, this morning we stood and watched a train arrive and watched everyone toss their papers into the appropriate newspaper recycling container. one person (i didn't Ativan drug information - notice if it was a man or a woman) gently tossed the paper towards the opening and Ativan drug, walked away. what they didn't notice was that it didn't make it into the 'mouth' of the thing, but landed on the flat top of it (which does sometimes happen.) others went by tossing theirs over and around, but no one else pushed it in (which does sometimes happen.) then, a man walked over and started flipping through the sections to see if there was anything he wanted - he took one part and left the rest. a moment or two later, a woman walked over and flipped it open and took another section. a few moments after Ativan drug : that, again, another section disappeared. by the time the entire train had arrived, the entire paper was gone. and this wasn't only homeless people looking through it (although one of them was) but it was other commuters.
so then we move down to the track. and there is another newspaper container (i told you they ativan drug place them.) so as we're standing there, we watch a guy actually open the side door to ativan pregnancy (clearly how they empty them) and pretty much climb in to it to root Ativan drug information : around for newspapers. i find myself wondering if they are usually locked, and make a mental note to look for that next time i see one.

ok, perhaps boring. but as a sociology grad, i love to people watch and observe behaviour and behaviour trends ... and this one simply cracks me up.
disclaimer: these containers are attended continuously and are observed constantly by gct staff and the police. their 'open air' design makes it pretty much impossible for anyone to pervert their use for evil purposes. it is for this reason that i feel comfortable discussing them. :-)
