marathon day!
i love marathon day. my first marathon Online pharmacy prescription vicodin - day in the city was spent with my vicodin pain medication catherine. it rained all weekend, but that didn't stop us from checking out the sports show at the columbus circle center (which no longer exists) on saturday, and then we saw 'beauty and the beast' on broadway with debbie gibson as beauty saturday night. sunday we were up early, and out the door to the marathon.
i only live a few blocks from the 59th street bridge, which is where the runners cross from queens to manhattan ... from there they run straight up 1st avenue. Vicodin m367 - we stood Online pharmacy prescription vicodin - on the corner, in the rain, for a while to see what was happening, then walked up to 75th street which was our appointed meet corner. we were meeting up with my brother-in-law and vicodin m367 family, as one of his brothers was running the marathon that year. aside from the rain, it was so much fun and so exciting!
so the next year i went out again to watch everything. and the next year. and then i started working sundays and i haven't been able to go to one since. very depressing.
i love to go out early. Vicodin m367, Online pharmacy prescription vicodin, the elite runners are over the bridge by noon ... the pack doesn't arrive for another hour or two. first the mayor crosses in his car, then the sanitation crew goes by in their garbage truck-converted to a parade vehicle. all the while, the achiles heel marathoners are passing by. they range from wheelchair participants, to blind vicodin m367 or amputee runners ... every single one of them is special. i always cheer, scream and applaud for them when they go by me. i mean, i have great respect for anyone running the marathon (because i couldn't do it ... i mean, i could if i tried, but that's not going to happen anytime soon) and they're doing it against even greater odds vicodin m367 anyone else ...
one year i was standing in vicodin m367 crowd and the first man went by ... i think he was in a wheelchair. i started vicodin m367 and cheering ... and then realized that no one around me was even paying attention. they were waiting for the elite runners (the professional marathoners who run then entire 26.2 mile course in about 2 hours ... the average person does it in 4-5 hours). when the next person, a woman i think, came by, i started screaming and cheering again. a few people around me realized what was happening and joined in. and as each one passed by us, the cheering got louder and louder. then we could hear them up first avenue cheering too, because the people beside us heard us, and the group furthur up heard them and so on. it was so lovely.
at some point close to 12:15 the helicopters close in. you can hear them, and then see them above. they hover over the bridge to catch the lead male runners coming. shortly after, a few pace cars, and then motorcycles with camera men come around the corner and pause for the runners to catch up. then the time car, with the giant clock on top telling the runners what their time vicodin m367 comes around the corner and up first avenue, followed by a pack of men who are doing what normal people Vicodin m367 - call sprinting ... and have been doing for over an hour at that point. everyone cheers and screams.
the gatorade is held Online pharmacy prescription vicodin - out for the runners by the volunteers who have, up to that point, been diligently mixing powedered gatorade in bag lined garbage pail 'cauldrons' *hee hee* and stacking so carefully and precisely into green cuped pyramids of power. before long, the tower vicodin m367 be gone and the cups will be all over the street.
when you look up first avenue, the street is empty. there is a blue paint line drawing the route (a copyrighted colour ... nyc marathon blue), and balloon arches spanning the street beckoning them vicodin pain medication the street is wide now, but when the pack comes through it will be wall to wall bodies and feet. it's amazing.
about half an hour after the lead males run by, the excitement builds again. the lead women are coming. once again the helicopters cross the river, and the motorcycles and pace cars arrive. and then! there they are! the woman are dashing too and up they go ... up first avenue.
it's hard to take pictures of them ... they run so fast! one year all i got was the foot of the male lead and the lower leg of the lead female in pictures.
so today, on marathon Online pharmacy prescription vicodin - day, i sit at work. it's rather quiet here today ... hard to say if it's because of the marathon or not.
but thanks to modern technology, i can be right there with my friends. i know two people who are running today, and on the website for the run you can search their names, and load Online pharmacy prescription vicodin - up a marathon tracker. the runners have a computer chip in their shoes (or somewhere ...) and when they run over these mats they place on the course the computers automatically clock their times. so i have a little window up on my screen that is telling me how my friends are doing. it's almost like running beside them ... but not quite *hee hee*.
kathleen ran the 10K in 1:07, and vicodin pain medication at the half marathon at 2:16 ... she's running 10:47 as her vicodin pain medication per mile ... and henry was 50:33 at 10K, with a 1:49 half marathon ... 8:47 Online pharmacy prescription vicodin - is his pace per mile.. henry is a marathoner, and kathleen is a fellow librarian who is running for her second time this year.
i can't wait to 'watch' them finish!
next year i am requesting marathon day off.
